Triple Advantage

The University of Western Sydney gives students from Greater Western Sydney three entry advantages over others to provide opportunities for local students to realise their higher education dreams.

Advantage 1: UWS Regional Bonus

If you currently live or study in the Greater Western Sydney region, you will receive an automatic 5 point bonus when you apply for a UWS course via the Universities Admission Centre.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be sitting the NSW HSC or IB in 2009 and qualify for a UAI or IB Diploma
  • Live in OR attend a high school in the Greater Western Sydney (GWS) region. To find out if you are in the region, search the UWS Regional Bonus Postcodes.

The Regional Bonus is applicable to all UWS courses except those with additional selection criteria.

Bonus points are added automatically, no separate application is required.

    Advantage 2: UWS Subject Bonus

Bonus points may also be awarded on the basis of outstanding performance in a nominated range of HSC or IB subjects. To be eligible, you must meet the above criteria and achieve band 5 or 6 results in HSC or IB subjects relevant to the UWS course you have applied for. For details on the subject bonus points available, please refer to the UWS Subject Bonus list.

Bonus points are added automatically, no separate application is required.

Please note that the maximum bonus that any applicant can receive is 10 points. This includes Regional Bonus, Subject Bonus and Educational Access Scheme (EAS) points.

    Advantage 3: UWS Early Offer

If you meet the above criteria you will be automatically considered for an early conditional offer if your UAI equals or exceeds the UWS 2009 UAI cut-off for the course to which you seek admission. You will receive this offer before the Christmas holidays.

All schools will also be invited to submit details of students who may be eligible for a priority conditional offer on the basis of their potential success at University study. This priority offer will be made to these students before they commence their HSC exams. The priority offer is designed to take the stress out of whether or not you’ll get an offer.

To be eligible you must include a UWS course in your top three preferences by UAC on-time close of preferences.

This offer is subject to your final UAI matching or exceeding the previous year’s cut-off.

The Priority Offer Scheme Nomination Form is able to be downloaded and sign off is required by the School.
